Miscellaneous
INTERVIEWS
- In 1995, the co-founder of the Jayhawks left the band.
I caught up with Mark Olson in 2004 when he and his band “the
Creekdippers” toured Europe. Listen to the
interview I had with him (wma-file)
- The big news in 2005 was the reunion tour of Gary
Louris and Mark Olson. In this
interview Mark talks about that on American radio for the first
time (wma-file)

In 1991, The Jayhawks were recording
their major label debut and landmark album “Hollywood Town Hall”. This article
gives an insiders’ peek into the recording process and all the tensions that
come with it. From the library in Minneapolis. Follow
this link for the article. It’s in PDF format and about 1 MB in size. Turn
the pages anti-clockwise for a good read.

SOUNDS
- This is “Everybody Gets By”. A
Louris/Olson original which they played a few times. Sadly, it never found
a place on an album. This recording comes from the Catspaw Radio Show,
November 14 1993. Band: Mark Olson, Gary Louris, Marc Perlman, Ken
Callahan & Karen Grotberg. Three-part harmonies by Mark, Gary &
Karen. Enjoy! (compressed wav-file,
please do not distribute)
- Want to hear some “two-step”? Here’s Mark Olson, Mike
“Razz Russell” and Ray Woods performing “Hummingbird”. Also, a completely
new arrangement of “Into The
Yard” with acappella-stuff! Recorded live in Paradiso (upstairs) June
15th 2005. (compressed
wav-files, please do not distribute)
- The recent Music Photography Gallery Exhibit in
Minneapolis contains pictures of the Beatles performing at Met Stadium in
1965. There is a famous interview with a police-officer in which he can’t
hide his total dislike of the Fab Four. Listen to that interview
segment.
- Tim O’Reagan and Jim Boquist
played a show in Glasgow on May 4th 2007. I was there and
recorded the whole thing. The recording will up on DimeDozen soon but here
are two MP3’s just to get a taste of this great performance.
